Pazardzhik Symphony Orchestra

The Pazardzhik Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1969. From 1970 to 1992 their Artistic Director, Professor Ivan Spasov, was one of the most significant Bulgarian cultural figures as composer, conductor, teacher and influential public figure with numerous publications to his name. Thanks to him the institution quickly established itself on professional stage. He has also given the symphonic and opera repertoire, orientated towards different genders and politics. The orchestra performs classical works as well as contemporary music by Bulgarian composers, including many world premiers. The orchestra’s flexibility and its professional members are factors that attract many famous conductors and soloists from Bulgaria as well as foreign guests and gifted young emerging artists.
The orchestra has taken a part in ,,New Bulgarian Music” preview, and has implemented a string of tours in many European countries. It has recorded in for Bulgarian National Radio, Bulgarian National Television as well as LPs and CDs.
